EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY

It has been said that horses are the mirrors to the soul. They are also the mirrors to human emotions, feelings, attitudes and behaviors. It is this that makes them especially powerful therapeutic partners. Through the guidance of a licensed therapist, clients are able to explore the emotional and behavioral responses that arise while working with these powerful animals.

If you feel stuck in traditional counseling, if your adolescent is resistant to “therapy”, or if you want to learn more about yourself in a fun and safe environment, then EAP sessions may be just the right thing.

We offer individual, family and group sessions for clients who:

  • Want to add something different to their traditional counseling
  • Would like to take control of their lives and increase confidence
  • Are having feelings of depression and anxiety
  • Are experiencing loss and grief
  • Are seeking marital counseling
  • Would like to increase communication in their relationships
  • Have been victims of abuse
  • Have or have had food, drug or alcohol addictions
  • Have a life-altering disease or disorder
  • Clients experiencing post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Veterans

EQUINE EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

Learning by doing, or through having an experience, is what EEL is all about.  When we put people and horses together, something unique happens – a bond is formed, an “aha” moment arises, positive feeling abound… Horses help people discover or rediscover their best selves.
Experiential learning with horses can teach people to “think outside of the box”.  It can enhance pro social and life skills and dramatically increase a client's sense of personal power and control.

When people leave the stable, they feel more confident, more connected and better able to deal with the challenges that life sends their (our?) way.

EEL sessions are perfect for:

  • School groups (please see our A.W.A.R.E. program)
  • Kids with behavioral issues or who are resistant to therapy
  • Clients with learning disabilities
  • Families
  • Youth at-risk
  • Corporate and agency teambuilding

Medicine Horse tailors individualized programs to fit the needs of many different agencies and individuals– please call for current programs and pricing.
