Summer Enrichment


***Montezuma County Youth 11 – 14 yo***
PLEASE NOTE: horse activities and interaction will not involve riding
The two-day sessions are designed for youth to develop a more in-depth skills in ranching (horsemanship), leatherwork, and ceramics. Please plan for your youth to be here for both days.

Session I: Ranch Day I & II – June 8 & 9
Available Spots: Closed
These two days will focus on ranch chores, what it takes to take care of a horse herd, explore different ways to connect with a horse (grooming and different methods of leading). In addition, youth will have opportunities for creative art projects, and share cowboy-style snacks together.

Session II: Hide & Stitch I & II – June 22 & 23
Available Spots: Closed
These two days will focus on learning to work with leather: cutting out template, creating stitching lines, and stitching it together. The youth will create a belt and a utility pouch during the two days. In addition, we will be making healthy snacks together and spending some time connecting with the horses.

Session III: Creative with Clay I & II – July 13 & 14
Available Spots: FULL
These two days will focus on learning various hand-building techniques by completing several functional and creative projects. We will be making healthy snacks together and spending some time connecting with the horses.

Session 1: Creative Outdoors – June 15
Available Spots: Closed
We will be exploring being creative with art, garden, music, and food. Sharing a healthy snack and spending some time with the horses will keep our morning fun and playful.

Session II: Adventure Arts – June 29
Available Spots: Closed
We will be exploring the land around Medicine Horse Garden and using found objects to create fun art projects. Sharing a healthy snack and spending some time with the horses will keep our morning fun and playful.
